Hi everyone.
We’ve had several things happen this month and I’ve (Denis) not posted anything here – until now. My excuse was being too busy, and tired. Mostly by moving the Kaikohe SeniorNet Learning Centre from one premises to another.
So, time to catch up.
Thursday 9th – Camera Club meeting at Kaikohe. Not many attended this meeting which was a disappointment considering the good turnout lately at previous meetings. For those of you who didn’t come you missed a wonderful talk from Annie on how she works with children while photographing them – her specialty.
Saturday 11th – the outing to Wairere Boulders at Horeke. The weather looked a bit touch and go but turned out to be ideal for photographing the boulders and bush – cloudy with nice even lighting, no harsh shadows. There were nine of us there and we had a good afternoon out walking the tracks and taking plenty of photographs.
Wednesday 15th – the annual get together at Whangarei for the Northern Interclub pot-luck dinner and competition judging. Four clubs – Wellsford, Dargaville, Whangarei and us (Mid North). Unfortunately the points awarded by the judge were not in our favour and congratulations go the the Dargaville club for winning this year’s competition.
However all was not lost as the top photo trophy was awarded to our Annie for a child study photograph. Congratulations to Annie.
The next event, which occurs before our next meeting, is the Bay of Islands P&I Show at Waimate North on the 8th November. Entry forms for the Photography section can be obtained from McFadziens Pharmacy in Kerikeri or Kaikohe Photographic Centre, or downloaded from here – Entry Form PDF.
Entries may be left at McFadziens Pharmacy in Kerikeri, Kaikohe Photographic Centre, or brought along to the Waimate North Showgrounds on Friday 7th November.
