Waipapa Landing fun

For the Camera Club meeting on Thursday evening, March 13, 2008, we made double use of the Waipapa Landing reserve at Kerikeri.

Some of us met at 6 pm to take photographs of the river and whatever else we could find around the reserve. Since the light was getting down it was an ideal time to use slow shutter speeds to create smooth water flows over the rocks.

The photo below was with the settings of ISO200, F29, 1/5sec. Normally a tripod is required for these slow shutter speeds but with some of the newer VR (Nikon - Vibration Resistant) lens - they might be called also IM for Image Stabilization - this image was taken with the camera hand held.

For the Camera Club meeting itself we were honoured to have Keith Williams take us in a live workshop showing us how to photograph a family in existing light. He made use of the reserve as the shoot location moving the family, and us, around to different places to make use of the different natural lighting. All in all a very enlightening experience.
